Functional health · Telehealth for men · Canada & USA
Energy, drive and sleep dropped? Start with the root cause.
Functional health is how we work out why. We look at your sleep, stress, nutrition, training and weight together, and use labs where they help. It all happens online, wherever you are in Canada or the USA. It builds on our low testosterone and andropause approach.
Free and private. No obligation to book a call.
Symptoms are the signal. The cause is the work.
Feeling tired, flat or short-tempered doesn’t tell you why. The same symptoms can come from poor sleep, a heavy stress load, how you eat and train, extra weight, a medication, or low testosterone, and often from several at once. That’s why we start by looking for what connects them, rather than treating each one on its own.
One fix per symptom
A sleep aid for the nights, a supplement for the afternoons, a new training plan next month. It’s easy to end up busy and no clearer on what is actually going on.
One picture of the whole
We go through your history, your routine and what you’ve already tried, then work out what is most likely driving it and in what order to act. You leave with a clear first step.
Five areas we look at first
Most of the time the answer is a mix of these. We go through them in the order most likely to matter for you.
Sleep
How long, how well and how regularly you sleep. Short, broken or irregular sleep is one of the first things we check.
Stress and recovery
Long-running pressure, shift work and too little downtime can leave your body with little room to recover. We look at your load and where some of it can come down.
Nutrition
Whether you’re eating enough, how much protein you get, how regular your meals are and how much alcohol is in the mix. Not a crash diet, just what’s realistic for your week.
Training
Too little, or a lot without enough recovery. We help you find an amount and a mix you can keep up, instead of another all-or-nothing plan.
Weight and body composition
Extra weight around the middle can be linked with lower testosterone, and the link can run both ways. We look at your trend and where small, steady changes fit.
Why we look at them together
These areas rarely act alone. Poor sleep can make stress harder to handle. Stress can change how you eat and train. Extra weight can make sleep worse. And each of them can pull testosterone down. Fixing one thing in isolation can leave the loop running, which is why we look at the whole pattern first.
How labs fit into your plan
Some things show up in your history and routine. Others show up in a blood test. We use both to build your plan.
Labs, when they’re worth it
A blood test, usually taken in the morning, can look at total and free testosterone and other markers that overlap with how you feel. We’ll explain which tests are worth asking about and help you read the results.
What we do with your results
- Walk you through each result in plain language.
- Match results to your symptoms, routine and history.
- Turn them into clear next steps in your plan.
- Track the change over time as you check in.
How it works
Four steps, all online. You decide at each one whether to continue.
- Step 1
Take the free assessment
Answer a few questions about your symptoms and routine. You’ll see which pattern they most resemble and where to look first.
- Step 2
Talk it through on a call
A private video or phone call with a clinician to go over your history, your routine and what you’ve already tried.
- Step 3
Map the likely causes and make a plan
We put sleep, stress, nutrition, training and weight in order for you. If labs would help, we explain which to ask about. Day-to-day support comes through health coaching, and supplements where they fit.
- Step 4
Check in and adjust
Regular follow-ups to see what is working and change what isn’t.
Common questions about low testosterone
Finding the cause starts with the right questions. These short answers cover what men often ask about causes, labs and treatment, each with a link to the full answer.

Should I start TRT or fix the causes first?
Confirm the low result first, look for causes second, then decide about TRT. It often isn’t either/or, and we walk you through each step.

The best evidence is for losing extra body fat, sleeping enough and staying active. Most “booster” ingredients have little human evidence.
Read the full answerHow does sleep affect testosterone?
Testosterone rises while you sleep, so short, broken or badly timed sleep can pull it down.
Read the full answerDoes testosterone cause hair loss?
Pattern hair loss comes from DHT acting on scalp follicles your genes make sensitive, not from your blood testosterone level.

Which labs should I ask for?
A morning total testosterone, repeated if it’s low, then free T and SHBG, LH and FSH, and often estradiol, prolactin, hematocrit and PSA.

Divide ng/dL by 28.84 to get nmol/L. The calculator also estimates free T from total T, SHBG and albumin.

The most common is a rise in red blood cells (hematocrit). Acne, a small PSA rise and lower sperm production are also linked, and most show up early on labs.

It often lowers sperm production while you’re on it, and for many men that eases after stopping. If children are in your plans, we help you weigh the options.

It depends on the peptide. Some are approved medicines sold by licensed pharmacies; many “wellness” injectables sold online are not authorized.

What is functional health, and is it medical care?
Functional health is how we describe our root-cause approach. We look at your sleep, stress, nutrition, training, weight and history together to understand why your energy, drive and mood dropped, and we build your plan around what we find. It works alongside your medical care: we can share your plan with your doctor and help you bring your results to appointments.
How is this different from a regular doctor’s visit?
We spend our time on the day-to-day picture: your routine, stress load, sleep, training and what you’ve already tried. We then turn it into a plan and check in on it with you. It sits alongside your family doctor, and we can share your plan with them.
Do I need blood tests?
Not necessarily at the start. The free assessment and your first call come first. If blood tests are worth doing, we’ll explain which ones to ask about and help you understand the results.
What if I take medication?
Tell us what you take on your first call and we factor it into your plan. We can also help you prepare questions to raise with your doctor about how it fits.
How quickly will I feel a difference?
It depends on what is driving your symptoms. Part of your first call is agreeing on what to track so you can see for yourself whether the plan is working.
Is it fully online, and where do you work with men?
Yes. Odin Health Labs is telehealth only and serves men across Canada and the USA. Everything happens by secure video or phone, so there are no clinic visits. See our low testosterone and andropause overview for how the service works, or read our Privacy Policy for how we protect your information.
Not sure what’s behind it? Start with the free assessment.
